The SUVs

These massive trucks or SUVs or Yank tanks are amazing. They make Toyota Landcrusiers look like toys, and could almost fit a Suzuki Sierra on each seat. In USA bigger is always better.
I was wondering how anyone could afford to drive these petrol thirsty things until you work out that petrol/gas is about 60 cents a litre.

North American International Motor Show, Detroit

I arrived in Detroit after travelling for about 30hrs with a sore back and a headache.
I was impressed by all the snow around on the ground, but Jen wasn't. Apparently there is a big thaw occuring making the snow melt. I didn't realise how awesome the individual snow flakes acutually are.
And it is seriously cold. Today the hottest it will get is -5 degrees! I sometimes wonder how poeple can live in areas like this. I went outside and to pick up a free newspaper that was thrown into the yard and the paper was frozen solid, literally solid and stiff as a piece of wood.
It is only safe to go outside in these gigantic wool/cashmere overcoat jackets. If you have them on inside you start sweating instantly, but outside you are still cold even in the jackets.

So this is me packing for Canada and packing away my life in Australia.
I guess you don't realise how much junk you have until you have to pack it all up and move it all.

On the ultimate quest of survival one country stands alone as a unique challenge. This country is Canada; a frozen, icy country infested with cute bears and and grizzly Canadians. Throughout the course of this year I will be pitting my wits against this tribe of Tim Hortons drinking, ice hockey playing, and baby seal killing maniacs.
I will construct an igloo on arrival and toboggan to work as a lumber jack. Then eat moose cooked over an open fire for dinner.

Stay tuned for details........if i survive.
